2023: Buy-a-book campaign

We launched our new library in February 2023 with an initial collection of 200 books in a variety of subjects, both fiction and non-fiction, English and Khmer. We have been overwhelmed by the response of the students and we’re pleased the library is extremely popular. It’s so popular, in fact, that on one day in March, more than 100 students checked out a book. That’s about 33% of the student body, and that included plenty of teenage boys who participated.

Many of the kids were sharing books, so we’d like to encourage a good thing and more than double our collection by purchasing another 250 books. The principal and teachers are coordinating to ensure that the books reflect a wide range of interests and reading levels.
